This is a two-part assignment. In part one you will write a one-page resiliency consultation summary for an individual from your identified population using resiliency theories, concepts, models for risk, positive psychology, and peak experiences in flow. This type of document would be provided to the client after a resiliency consultation and includes a summary of the consultation, and recommendations and resources for the client to consider moving forward. In part two of this assignment you will provide a rationale for the information you provided in the resiliency consultation summary based upon resiliency theories, concepts, models for risk, positive psychology, and peak experiences in flow. You will include both parts of this assignment in one written file for submission to this assignmentment.

The purpose of part one is to apply what you have learned in this course to a resiliency consultation summary and extend your abilities as a human services professional. Part one provides you an opportunity to practice the application of theory to practice. Reflection of your professional experiences as a human services professional will help address the components of part one of this assignment. If you prefer, you can base part one of this assignment on a case study of your choice rather than professional experience. You can create a persona including cultural traits based upon your professional experience or a case study for the individual from the identified population you consult with.

The purpose of part two of this assignment is to conduct an analysis and synthesis of information you acquired during this course, with application in a real-world context. Integrating your professional background, newly discovered research, and knowledge of human behavior related to stages of development is integral for the rationale you provide to support your resiliency consultation summary. Cite research and provide examples of how the research supports your resiliency consultation summary.

Helping your client understand his or her fears and challenges though past experience will influence their future experiences. Accurate description of events with an analysis and integration of risk and resilience concepts aligned with your client’s stage of human development will address the multi-faceted components of resiliency theories, concepts, models for risk, positive psychology, and peak experiences in flow that you have learned in this course.

ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Suppose you have just opened up a resilience consulting company. Your unique approach to promoting resilience lies in the challenge of writing a resiliency consultation summary. Clients submit their stories and challenges, and provide you with enough information to help support them. Your role is to write a resiliency consultation summary that addresses individual experiences and needs using research and professional experience to help your client. People who are struggling in their personal and professional life come to see you for suggestions in overcoming obstacles. Through understanding patterns of resilience and growth,your clients will better manage their choices and maintain a positive attitude.

Using the resiliency consultation summary you will instruct and coach your client for the future. You will also provide your client with resources for follow up based upon his or her specific needs. Conclude with resources for the client to research that may help him or her continue through the growth process. Provide specific direction for how the client will access the resources, and not just a website link.

Part One

With your experience and knowledge on risk, resilience, positive psychology, and peak experiences in flow, create a one-page resiliency consultation summary with the following sections.

  • Client Description.
  • Identified Problem.
  • Identified Risks.
    • Cultural Factors.
    • Predictive Factors.
  • Recommendation and Resources.
Part Two

Provide a rationale for the information in your resiliency consultation summary using resiliency theories, concepts, models for risk, positive psychology, and peak experiences in flow. Include in your rational provide an alignment for each of the sections of your resiliency consultation to the following criteria.

  • Identify the client’s stage of human development and characteristics.
  • Examine protective and risk factors that have impacted a client’s life to provide a background description of the client and issues presented.
    • Include gender, career (if any), family constellation, marital status, geographic location, education, ethnicity, religious focus, employability, physical or mental limitations, economic status, value system, and roles played by this individual in multiple groups like faith-based groups, social groups, et cetera.
  • Apply a theory of risk and resiliency to the analysis of a client’s needs
    • Set positive, achievable goals, using positive psychology and a strengths-based approach.
    • Provide resilience methods for the client’s successful navigation through life.
  • Anticipate challenges and plan for strategies of coping with changes.
    • Consider potential risk factors that may interrupt the typical pattern of growth for this individual.
  • Apply multidimensional resilience principles to client development.
    • Explain the process of resilience and advocacy approaches.
  • Explain various advocacy resources that could support client growth through anticipated challenges.

Part one of this assignment is written for the client and should be written using understand terms and language that providing information for the client to review and use. Your explanations of processes, advocacy resources, and resilience should pertain to the client’s situation. Part two is written for an academic audience and should apply APA style and mechanics.

  • Resources: A minimum of 8 peer-reviewed, scholarly resources and 5 resources (that could include local resources) for the client to reference are required.
  • Length of paper: The body of your paper (not including the title page and references) should be 5–6 double-spaced pages.
